There is fading throughout (the greens have faded to my absolute favorite tone!) and softness to the fabrics from being used and washed over its lifetime. The edges are bound in a Japanese floral poplin cotton, with the front packets and inner collar constructed from cotton fabric salvaged from a men's Oxford work shirt.
