Khotan (Sand) Foliage/Flowers Hand knotted in silk[[start tab]] About This Rug Khotan rugs were originally handwoven in or about the ancient city of Khotan in the region of Xinjiang (Chinese Turkestan). This is a very simplified version of most Khotan designs in a 60 knot Tibetan weave. Even though it is a design that may be reminiscent of some broadloom carpeting, the beauty of the rug lies in the quality and texture of the wool.
